PRESERVATION +: CREATIVE REUSE, CONVERSIONS, ADDITIONS & NEW CONSTRUCTION IN HISTORIC DISTRICTS
WE UNCOVER NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN COMPLEX PRESERVATION PROJECTS
We believe that there is added equity that can be found in reuse, that buildings need to adapt to people and not vice-versa.
The studio’s work in Landmarked Districts, has defined our own brand of contextualism, we have a proven record in transforming existing structures in historic and post-industrial districts, weaving the complex issues inherent to integrating historic and new fabric. We work like archaeologists, we interpret the context before we write in it. We are passionate about and have designed and obtained Landmarks approval for several tall buildings in historic districts.
Our successful projects demonstrate that we can obtain expedited approvals, from all of the agencies, for challenging restorations, adaptive reuse activations, iconic interventions and new construction in historic districts, we partner with LPC to negotiate solutions integral to the context, but also add value to your project.
The studio’s clients include: New York Academy of Arts, College of Mount Saint Vincent, PMG property Markets group, Shushana Developments, Gatsby Enterprises, Petro Development Group, Imperial Development Group, Megalith, Hammer LLC., Huguenot llc, the Martin Group and several Coops and Condominiums.
We understand the complex programmatic and technical issues inherent with working within existing structures and have extensive hands on experience in conserving all aspects of much differentiated existing buildings. The 3D simulations allows us to quickly outline the restoration process and the possibilities of intervention.
